Our Coaching Staff


Our fantastic sprints specialist coach Keegan Bell is back again for another season with us at The Ponds LAC.

Some of Keegan’s achievements over the years:
– 3x CHS 400m champion
– 4x400m CHS champion
– 2x state junior 400m champion 
– State junior 200m champion
– 2x 400m Australian all schools champion
– 2x 400m Australian junior champion
– Little A’s 400m and 200m state champion
– 400m NSW all schools champion
– 400m state open bronze medallist
– 4x400m Australian open championship silver medallist
– 400m finalists at the 2018 commonwealth games trials
– 400m Melanesian champion (Oceania)
– Melanesian 800m mixed sprint medley
– Youth Olympics 2018 Argentina

Keegan’s goals are to gain a spot for the 400m and hopefully 4x400m relay at the Olympics in the future.

Keegan is currently a qualified Cert 3 and Cert 4 Personal Trainer, as well as a Level 1 Track Coach.

Keegan will be offering sprint training in the 200m and 400m on Thursday nights from 7:00pm-8:00pm for those interested U8-U17 athletes.

Keegan will be also offering Mid/Long Distance Running Coaching to those interested U9-U17 athletes each week on Tuesday nights from 7:00pm-8:00pm. 




Another one of our fantastic coaches Matt McVey who is a great all round athlete, but is a Javelin specialist is back at The Ponds LAC this season.

Some of Matt’s achievements over the last few years:
– NSW all schools state champion 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017
– Australian all schools silver medalist 2014
– NSW juniors champion 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2nd place 2018
– Australian junior silver medalist 2013, 2015, bronze 2016.
– 7x national junior medalist in the events of javelin and discus.

Matt’s goals is to become one of the best senior throwers in Australia. He also hopes to improve his own PB this upcoming season to beyond 70m.

Matt is excited to contribute to many PB’s and mini achievements of the young athletes who will shape a bright future for the best throwing event in athletics (javelin).

Matt will be offering Throws Coaching (Discus & Shot Put) to those interested U7-U17 athletes each week on Tuesday nights from 6:00pm-7:00pm.

Matt will also be coaching Javelin on Tuesday nights from 7:00pm -8:00pm for those interested U11-U17 athletes.

Matt will be showing the kids warm ups and throwing techniques.




Another one of our fantastic coaches returning to The Ponds Little Athletics Centre as our Walks coach this season is Ryan Thomson. 

Ryan is currently a 3rd year university student studying sport and exercise science. Ultimate goal is to represent Australia at the Olympic Games in the future.

Ryan has an impressive list of achievements in the Walks:
*Silver Medallist at the Oceania Championships (2017)
*Australian All Schools Champion (2013)

*Silver Medallist at 2017 State Little Athletic Championships
